His talents have seen him managing operations all over the UK, USA, New Zealand and Australia. His bar consultancy, lateral drinking, launched in Sydney 2000, and was one of the first in the country to specialize in craft bar culture and modern day club management.
This new breed of London-style bar management helped pave the way for a shift in national bar culture as did his ground-breaking bar concept GASTROBAR. His sold out series, matching high end food and cocktails in 2002, made national press in print and on TV, featuring heavily on television series MY RESTAURANT RULES.
A passionate people person, MATT‘s expertise in management has seen him consult to, open and rescue over 25 operations in the past 15 years as a pioneering bar consultant. Turning his hand to event management in 2005, MATT‘s credentials also included five years as Melbourne’s most progressive specialist beverage caterer with clients such as DDB, SONY, ANZ and the NATIONAL GALLERY of VICTORIA amongst thousands of satisfied, tipsy clients. The man knows how to drink.

A wily veteran of the industry, WESTMAN has been bestowed with local and International bartending awards while manning the helm BOURBON & BRANCH and RICKHOUSE in San Francisco (picking up best high volume cocktail bar @ TALES OF THE COCKTAIL).
An Aussie boy through and through, however, having previously tended bar at the BOTANICAL HOTEL, JAQUES REYMOND and a few questionable haunts in St Kilda, Melbourne once again shone it’s beacon calling for his return.
WESTMAN can now be found most nights in his mayoral duties, kissing babies, shaking hands and dropping knowledge as a local dignity at his own bar THE COLLECTIONin Richmond which recently pick up some hardware as AUSTRALIAN SMALL BAR OF THE YEAR 2012. Yes friends, the man knows his booze.
He has worked as a professional photographer since 2004.
His work covers a massively broad spectrum of genres and he excels in shooting people (no silly, not with a gun) with his specialist craft also applying itself to weddings, portraiture, fashion and corporate events.
However, being the preferred photographer for many of Melbourne’s top nightclubs, he’s best known in this party town as the number one social snapper. If the parties worth going to, you’ll find JAMES there hyping the crowd. He has an emphatic energy and style with just the right amount of charm to loosen up your guests – the proof being evident in his incredibly fun snaps.
His client list reads like a playboys black book. He has held residencies at Melbourne’s leading club institutions such as ONE SIX ONE, TRAMP, BAROQ HOUSE, THE SAINT and THE BARKLY HOTEL, some for up to ten years! He has also covered a massive range of pop up parties for a thousand like RIVAS infamous New Years Day party, to super-sized full blown festivals for 20,000+ patrons, like FUTURE MUSIC, PARKLIFE and KISS MY GRASS. If his witty charm and youthful good looks don’t impress you (he made us say that) Laz has worked on creative and marketing campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands including ADIDAS, SPORTSGIRL, SAMSUNG, HARRY POTTER, HONDA, NIKE, LINDT, QANTAS, FORD, THE MELBOURNE CUP, WARNER BROS, WITTNER, WITCHERY, AUSTRALIA POST, CPA AUSTRALIA, TOYS R US, BORDERS, SOFITEL and many, many more – not to mention the little orange midget has won over a dozen high profile creative and marketing awards. He’s also the brains behind the recently launched BEYOND THE VALLEY MUSIC FESTIVAL branding and creative – and yes, he built this website too.

He brings a wealth of knowledge to the MILKFED CREATIVE department, with skills that stretch across all things web and digital, marketing and strategy, video and animation, branding and logo design, flyer and print media and more.
